Our first album had to be self produced and it had to be the truest representation of us, as people, as musicians and as a group that we had ever offered before. Parcels started for us as a new experimentation in sound and image but after the five of us moved across the world together, its initial ideas and boundaries quickly lost importance. We had always played in bands together but clearly this was our first real band in that it was inseparable from the experience we were living together. This was now our identity, we’re a band in the older sense of the word.

Parcels are an Australian electropop band composed of Louie Swain (keyboards), Patrick Hetherington (keyboards), Noah Hill (bass), Anatole "Toto" Serret (drums), and Jules Crommelin (guitar). The band formed in 2014 while at high school in Byron Bay, Australia, and are now based in Berlin, Germany. Parcels are signed to the French label Kitsuné. Their single "Overnight", released on 21 June 2017, was produced by Daft Punk, who heard them at their first performance in France.

Parcels feels miraculously out-of-place, conjuring ghosts of music movements past. I will always love Daft Punk and this album really does sound like a RAM Parcels seem to have all the necessary components in place that will surely blast them to quick, widespread commercial success. 89. Considering that Daft Punk produced a single Overnight last year, it was no doubt that part of the inspiration was carried foward to Parcels’ debut. It’s funky, infectious and danceable as all hell!

Remarkably, ‘Parcels’ manages to be an album that transcends elements from across pop history while still sounding remarkably fresh. The shimmering disco tendencies of the ‘70s turn ‘Lightenup’ and ‘IknowhowIfeel’ into dance floor smashes, as influences from ‘80s pop titans like Hall & Oates and The Cars rear their heads on gooey cuts like ‘Withorwithoutyou’ and ‘Yourfault’. Meanwhile, ‘Tape’ sounds like it would sit nicely on The Strokes’ underrated synth-heavy 2011 album ‘Angels’, and ‘Everyroad’ has a chunky bassline wobble in its exuberant final third.

Given how packed the record is, I wish they have included the two missing songs and made this a double album. Oh well, at least I didn't have any sound quality issues. There were probably some bad pressings.
Kit
Is it just my copy or do we have a really really bad pressing here? Even after cleaning constant loud crackles on both sides.

Love love love this record. As noted by others, really wish two of the best tracks were on the LP. Sounds really good for the most part, though I notice a lot of static on the opening track. But man, the packaging is heavy duty and very aesthetically pleasing. Plus you get a CD and a huge poster, so there’s that!

I wish every album was pressed with this high of quality. From sounds to packaging this vinyl is excellent! closetowhy has become a favorite off the album, while exotica keeps growing on me too. (reminds me of dreams by fleetwood mac once the drums kick in) 5/5 *one of the best if not the best album of 2018

This album leaves off where Daft Punk last stopped with Random Access Memories. Grove, funky, rhythmic jams that are slow and soft. This album has a very direct sound from the '70s, Ameen' just listen to the last track. A whole outro just for the credits of the album narrated by Dean Dawson. What can I say, life's a circuit. Even though this album takes inspiration straight from the funky 70s. The songs feel fresh and new with some much cleaner production, and with the added modern instrument put in. I was vary surprised to here the dubstep sounding breake in the track 'Everyroad'. Even though this album was not something I was anticipating for, I'm very glad it's heard and it's ended up being one of "I think" better albums of 2018. Just a great album to have a drink, lay down, relax and enjoy. I'm glad to see another artist fill out more of the genre of music and I now will anticipate there next release.8/10

I created an entry to index the signed copy of this LP (identical but front cover and poster are signed). Or maybe we should write in the notes here that a few copies were signed by the band ? If anyone knows how many copies there are, I'd like to know.Otherwise, great album, very pop and funk. A shame that tieduprightnow is not on the LP, I like it very much.
Mopimicr
my poster is signed, the front cover isn't signed. but are ALL signed or just a few copies?
Urllet
On my copy the poster is signed but not the front cover.
Umdwyn
Love the pressing. Great album, one of my favourite albums this year. Shame about Tape and tieduprightnow, hopefully they get a single release in the near future
Aurizar
Love everything about this release; the pressing, the trifold packaging, the music of course. Extra points for including a CD, lyrics and polylined inner sleeve for the record.
Quttaro
Like indicated, the vinyl omits 2 tracks, that's a shame. Sounds great.
