Record sales for It Won’t Be Soon Before Long proved that Maroon 5 did not fall into a sophomore slump. It went multi-platinum in the United States and peaked in the top 10 in 17 countries. It Won't Be Soon Before Long is the second studio album by the American rock band Maroon 5. It was released in May 2007 as the follow-up to their debut album Songs About Jane (2002). The name was inspired by a phrase the band adopted to keep themselves motivated while on their tour. The album debuted at number one on the . The lead single off the album "Makes Me Wonder" was released on March 27, 2007 and peaked atop the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart.
Maroon 5's second album is still great, strong both musically and thematically. This view does a disservice to the band and the album, though. Taken as a whole, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long is a mature look at an incredibly complicated relationship, a wholly complete picture that’s messy in a way that feels real. After the opening salvo of pettiness and jealousy, there comes a more introspective stretch, kicked off by Won’t Go Home Without You, as Levine begs and works to salvage the relationship.
