Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames were a noted British rhythm and blues/soul, jazz, ska, pop group during the 1960s. They were also the backing band for Billy Fury. At the end of 1961, their piano player Georgie Fame took over as vocalist and they went on to enjoy great success without Fury. They were influenced by Jon Hendricks, Mose Allison and blues musicians such as Willie Mabon.

At sixteen years of age he entered into a management agreement with Larry Parnes, who gave artists new names such as Marty Wilde and Billy Fury.
It must be bemusing for the singer and organist Georgie Fame to see the po-faced, politicised Paul Weller erroneously ordained the Modfather
Georgie Fame & the Blue Flames' third album very much follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, a punchy R&B stomper that could (even should) have been recorded live, so high is the energy, and so abandoned the backing of the Blue Flames. This is especially apparent on side two of the original vinyl, as the band all-but replicate the closing run of a hot and sweaty club gig, pounding through an electrifyingly note-perfect "My Girl," a rattling "The Whole World's Shaking" and a truly incredible version of "The In Crowd," all honking horns and.

Georgie Fame, the Flamingo All-nighter, mods and GIs. These are the things that dreams are made of. Whilst a mid sixties Rod Stewart might have claimed that it was his ambition to sing with Count Basie, it was Georgie who actually did it. And whilst the Who and the Small Faces had a legion of moddy boy fans in the middle of the decade, it was Georgie who was championed by the Soho ace faces a couple of years earlier . We feel that a compilation like this was a must for many years and we are very glad that we are the ones to have done it. By Dean Rudland.
Georgie Fame was one of the most successful British solo artists of the Sixties and is still performing to this day, renowned for his ability to bridge the gap between jazz and pop (now a winning formula, of course). The Two Faces of Fame was Georgie’s debut album for CBS back in 1967, as part of the label’s high profile ‘Fame In ‘67’ campaign. Reflecting the fact that Georgie meant different things to different people, the album was split between live recordings from a show at London’s Royal Festival Hall and studio sessions. The LP sold well, reaching the Top 30. Instead of marketing Georgie as an R&B artist with his backing band The Blue Flames, CBS saw.
