I'm Raving" is a song by German group Scooter. It was released in September 1996 as the lead single from their album Wicked!. The song is based significantly on the 1991 single "Walking in Memphis" by Marc Cohn. Several lyrics were altered including the line "I'm walking in Memphis" becoming "I'm raving, I'm raving". The song features sample of scottish traditional song "Scotland the Brave". The music video for "I'm Raving" was directed by Rainer Thieding.

One of Scooter's best creation is this song. Although it samples heavily Scotland the brave and Walking in Memphis, Rick managed to blend them harmonically. I have stated before that covering songs is not my cup of tea. I do not approve it but sometimes we have to admit that some cover songs are way better than the originals e.g. Because the night from 10000 maniacs or Over the hills and far away from Nightwish. I'm raving isn't exactly a cover, since it does not follow the same pattern as the originals. They only borrowed sounds and created something different. This is where Scooter were and still are succesfull. I'm raving is a whole new song with different arrangement and when you listen to it it just reminds you that something in the melody is familar, but i repeat is not a cover

A nice diverse set of remixes on this one, but the highlight is Taucher's remix, which substitutes the original piano melody for a silthy smooth saw line. This one is great to top off a long night.

Very cool.. I bought this one second-hand.. And what do you know.. the sticker was hidden into the sleeve :)

Look beyond the tacky sleeve there is a gem on this one, being Taucher's remix. Most of Scooter's influence on this is gone sans a small vocal snippet. A slow-burning trancer in Taucher's style is provided and with it the melody from Marc Cohn. Another record I'm really not ashamed of owning since the remix is quality but I still keep this in a black die-cut sleeve.
