Michael Duffy (born 28 July 1994) is a Northern Irish footballer who plays for Dundalk. Duffy is a product of the Derry City youth team and made his first appearance for the senior team at Richmond Park on 3 September 2012 as a second-half substitute in a 3–0 defeat to St Patrick's Athletic. Duffy scored his first league goal in the 1–0 win away to Shelbourne on 8 June 2013
Michael Duffy is a naval historian, specialising in the Napoleonic war period. He is Reader in British History and Director of the Centre for Maritime Historical Studies at the University of Exeter. Duffy earned his BA in history, MA, and DPhil in history at the University of Oxford. Appointed to the faculty of the University of Exeter, he has been Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Head of History and Dean of Arts
Deftly turning from Dusty Springfield-like ingenue to Kylie Minogue-ish diva in the span of one album, Duffy has produced an album, Endlessly, that is nearly everything its predecessor was not: where Rockferry was by turns melancholy and majestic, Endlessly is direct and forceful. She sings higher notes and sounds more pinched than before, and occasionally her vibrato sounds purposefully creaky, like a parody of her more infamous British soul rival, Amy Winehouse. The rare moments where she holds back her vocals, like album highlight "Don't Forsake Me," actually come off truer and more nakedly emotional. From the beginning of her career, Duffy's voice alone was clearly not her most potent weapon.
Homespun from Ireland. Created October 20, 2008.
