The Song Is You is a live album by saxophonist Stan Getz which was released on the Laserlight label in 1996.
Stan Getz couldn't care less. Didn't We is an unabashedly romantic and even sentimental collection of American popular songs given the Getz ballad and midtempo treatment via his gorgeous smoky tenor and an orchestra lushly arranged and conducted by Johnnie Pate. Here are ten songs given deluxe emotional readings with inimitable phrasing by Getz, who was at his height as a melodic improviser here.

Didn't We? This time we almost made the pieces fit Didn't We, girl? This time we almost made some sense of it Didn't We, girl? This time I had the answer right here in my hand, Then I touched it and it had turned to sand, This time we almost sang our song in tune Didn't We, girl? This time we almost made it to the moon oh, Didn't We, girl? This time we almost made our poem rhyme, This time we almost made that long hard climb, Didn't We almost make it this time? This time we almost made the pieces fit Find more lyrics at ※ Mojim.
A great lost album from Stan Getz! The record features Stan in a totally new setting, playing with some relatively unfamiliar French talents – Eddie Louiss on organ, Rene Thomas on guitar, and Bernard Lubat on drums. Louiss is incredible, and has a free spacey sound that recalls Larry Young. A lost chapter in the Stan Getz sound of the 60s – an album that features Stan blowing in front of some beautiful backdrops set by Lalo Schifrin and Claus Ogerman! The sound is super mellow – dreamy, but never sleepy – with Stan blowing in these soulful, magical, exploratory. LP, Vinyl record album.
