Night Life" is a song written by country music singer-songwriter Willie Nelson. Nelson was inspired to write the song during one of his trips from his home in Pasadena, Texas, to his work, singing at the Esquire Ballroom in Houston. The recording of the song was rejected by Pappy Daily, owner of Nelson's label, D Records. Daily believed that the song was not country.

Willie Nelson Details His New Album ‘Ride Me Back Home’. Days before his 86th birthday, the ever-prolific Nelson takes us inside ‘Ride Me Back Home,’ which mixes darkly funny originals with surprise covers. The album is Nelson’s 13th with producer and co-writer Buddy Cannon. In his liner notes, Mikal Gilmore calls the album a continuation of a trilogy that began in 2017 with God’s Problem Child and was followed in 2018 with Last Man Standing. Ride Me Back Home, though, brings a different component of mortality into view: empathy, Gilmore writes. One More Song to Write. It’s Hard to Be Humble (with Lukas Nelson and Micah Nelson).

One month before Ray Price passed away in December 2013, the country legend put the finishing touches on one last album, wrapping up the recording sessions for Beauty I. ith help from producer Fred Foster and string conductor Bergen White. Nearly three years later, Wille Nelson has reassembled the same team for For the Good Times: A Tribute to Ray Price, a moving record that finds Nelson - a short-lived member of Price’s touring band, the Cherokee Cowboys, in 1961, as well as a longtime friend during the half-century that followed - saluting one of his mentors

Ray Price was one of the most popular and respected singers in country music, with a fine baritone voice and a very wide vocal range, which gave him a reputation as one of the very best singers in country during the '50s and '60s. It was obviously recorded decades later and sticks out like a sore thumb. It was a non-charting song so this may not matter to you. I also have doubts about "I Can't Run Away From Myself" - a minor hit from 1960. That album by Willie refreshed all the Ray Price songs in my mind. I had to have a good collection of Mr. Price's songs for my collection and purchased this one. It has all the songs I would want to have in my collection and now do. This is a must for anyone interested in Ray Price music.

Willie Nelson has been around for so long that he’s essentially transformed into country music’s own version of a tall tale. Unfortunately, that often means he gets reduced to a punchline, whether for that whole tax evasion thing or his veritable status as Nashville’s pot-smoking grandpa. But Nelson is also one of music’s biggest living legends. Most know him for the songs he turned into some of country music’s most recognizable standards, from Always on My Mind to On the Road Again. What they may not know is that Nelson is one of the music industry’s most prolific album makers
