A Kind of Magic is the twelfth album by English rock band Queen, released in 1986. It was their first studio album to be recorded digitally, and is based on the soundtrack to the film Highlander
A Kind of Magic was their biggest album yet in England, where it reached number one, remained on the charts for 63 weeks, and spawned several hit singles - the epic title track, the tuneful pop/rocker "Friends Will Be Friends," and one of their most haunting ballads, "Who Wants to Live Forever" (also included was the Live Aid-inspired hit anthem. It may not have been as cohesive as some of their other albums, but A Kind of Magic was their best work in some time. Queen would embark on a sold-out tour of outdoor stadiums in Europe upon the album's release, which would sadly turn out to be their final tour.
The album A Kind of Magic is Queen's twelfth studio album but the first to include a title track. This was a big song on Queen's 1986 Magic tour, which was their last with the original members, since Freddie Mercury would be diagnosed with AIDS the following year and was too sick to tour after that. Queen was an absolute genius! It certainly was 'A Kind Of Magic'. Niles from Belpre, Oha really great song The Blue Angels used it as their opening of one of their documentary films it fits perfectly. Matt from All Over The Shop, -there's a whole bunch of queen songs i never realised were by the same group let alone queen (my folks only had greatest hits 1 so i thought that's all they'd done)

Lyrics to "A Kind Of Magic" song by Queen: It's a kind of magic. It's a kind of magic. Taylor's version is at the end of the film "Highlander" (1986); Mercury's version is on the album. In the "Highlander" film, Connor MacLeod answers to Rachel, "Hey, it's a kind of magic," when she asked him how he'd survived a gun shot. The phrase "a kind of magic" inspired Roger Taylor to write this song. Other references to the film in these lyrics are "one prize, one goal" and "no mortal man". The single's cover art is an image of Clancy Brown as the "Highlander" film's villain, The Kurgan
The album, which might have been Queen’s crowning moment, is absolutely bankrupt of gauche imagination. There’s none of the stylistic strip mining that unearthed hooks like the ones from Crazy Little Thing Called Love or Another One Bites the Dust, no ambitiously nutty concept recitals like Bohemian Rhapsody. Dominated by barren slabs of synthscape and guitarist Brian May’s orchestral fretwork, A Kind of Magic sounds like hard rock with a hollow core: it’s heavy plastic.
