Single Mothers is a Canadian punk rock band based in London, Ontario that formed in 2008. The band released its debut studio album Negative Qualities in 2014. Canadian Andrew Thomson formed Single Mothers in 2008 after a break up. The band released two EPs in its early years, Wild Party in 2010 and Single Mothers in 2011, the latter of which was released though Secret Voice - an imprint of Jacob Bannon's Deathwish Inc. founded by Jeremy Bolm of Touché Amoré.

Since I heard "Winter Coats" over five years ago I knew I'd be holding them a very high standard, and it's really amazing to see how they've lived up to expectations every release. Through A Wall dropped as a surprise and what I love most about it is it's so bold in that it goes right back to the sound of old after last year's Our Pleasure seemed to take a more catchy, melodic and dare I say, poppy route.

Single Mothers first came to people’s wider attention when Touché Amoré’s Jeremy Bolm released their self-titled second EP on his own label, Secret Voice, in 2012. Two years later, the band released their debut album, Negative Qualities – a shuddering, forthright blast of visceral hardcore, that saw a whole bunch of hype swell up around them, before things went quiet again. Literally – Drew released a series of home recordings and a couple of EPS of some acoustic songs, showing off a very different side to his talents. And almost quicker than a Single Mothers song, the band are back with a third album, Through A Wall. And while it sounds very angry indeed, as Drew explains, all might not quite be as it seem. irst of all, why did you decided to surprise release Through A Wall?
