Now, as you may recall, it was right around this time last year that we saw a glut of big-deal surprise-released albums: Lemonade entered (and summarily reconfigured) our lives last April, and by the end May we also had wholly or largely unanticipated new releases from Radiohead, Chance the Rapper, James Blake and more, many of which wound up high o. And while we’re in childhood reminiscence mod. ell, it doesn’t get much more tenderhearted than this. We don’t hear much nowadays from Elephant 6, that once-mighty bastion of lovably ramshackle indie-pop, but their flame is not quite extinguished, and the New Orleans-based songwrangler Theo Hilton (also of the band Defiance, Ohio) bears the torch proudly.
Now, where was I? Oh yeah, the new year. As we gaze into the bright new future, we’re thinking about all the extreme music that’ll be coming our way in 2010. We pulled together from various trade sources and internet prowling a list of extreme bands that have promised new releases in 2010, and then over the Christmas holiday your three NCS Co-Authors each picked the ones we’re most looking forward to hearing. Here’s the complete list we compiled from various trade sources that we used to pick the bands whose releases we most want to hear.
