When I first gave Pears’ album, Go To Prison, a listen, I had to sit in quiet reflection as to what I had just heard. This is hands down one of the best releases of 2014. For a new band on the block, out of the voodoo juju of New Orleans, Pears’ debut full-length album has it all. This ten song album packs the punch of hardcore/punk and everything in between all in a mere twenty-two minutes. Starting off with You’re Boring this song is everything but and is a clear indicator of what to expect in the upcoming songs.

Yet somehow Go To Prison sounds as cohesive as can be. Pretty impressive for a debut album! Hell, even when they cover the Ramones’ Judy Is A Punk, they somehow make it blend in with the rest seamlessly. It’s been a while since I heard an album that’s so fast you are constantly thinking it’s all gonna come crashing down any second. That’s probably why Pears threw in a bunch of badass breakdown. ust to catch their breath for a second without sounding any less vicious. Posts We Think You Might Like. Go To Prison is the debut release from New Orleans hardcore upstarts PEARS. Since its limited release in 2014, Go To Prison has taken the punk scene by the balls and refused to let go. Needless to say, we at Fat Wreck Chords are huge fans and after a few overtures we successfully convinced PEARS to let us rerelease this monumental album.
