Does anyone else have issues ripping the last three tracks on disc 2? Computer simply refuses to read it and stops ripping. Tried ripping on another computer and it did successfully rip. But there are very noticable glitches on the last couple of tracks.

Laying things out there as I see or hear them has not always proved profitable for me, nevertheless, A.R. Kane have been cited as being no less than renowned and revered during their heyday in the 1980’s, and singled out as being one of the most essential offerings from those years. I can fully appreciate if I misplaced events from the 60’s [smiling], I have many reasons and an equal number of excuses for mislaying many things from that era, but the 80’s are still fresh in my mind, college stations were all that occupied my radio dial, and I know nothing of A.R. Kane, other than what’s presented on this compilation, and regardless of what anyone says, as much as I wanted to like this outing, as it was delivered to me by a dear friend, it makes no sense to my ears whatsoever. I do know the work of My Bloody Valentine, the Pixies, and of course Jesus & Mary Chain, and I see no reference point here, no connection, and certainly no alliance. What struck me most regarding these darlings of the indie rock scene, and the fact that their 1988 release 69, was that Kane were fan and critic’s faves on the independent charts that summer. And despite this praise and adulation, A.R. Kane in nearly all interviews state in no uncertain terms that they were not part of the indie rock circuit, claiming that they had more in common, and traveled the same paths as Weather Report, Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, and even the post punk band Basement 5. There’s also an attitude that suggests that they were revolutionary when it came to dub, then shattering the notions of all we thought we knew regarding the Velvet Underground, with Kane’s execution of noise meets rock meets whatever, smacked up against the production of the Cocteau Twins. There are others who place A.R. Kane in the same galaxy as the noise laden psychedelic arena of space rock, though I don’t hear that aspect either. What I do hear are two people, Alex Ayuli [A.] and Rudy Tambala [R.], who grab bits and samples from whatever struck their fancy, or momentarily turned them on, and this compilation of hit singles [?], complete with alternative takes, certainly supports this notion. The Duo also claim to have coined the phrase ‘dream pop,’ though again, I don’t hear that aspect, nor do I believe they did. What I do hear is a sense of the theatrical, where Kane attempted to bridge, skirt, or blur the lines between noise, pop, melody, and of course, the ever present Avant garde. Critic Jason Ankeny argues that A.R. Kane were “Arguably the most criminally under recognized band of the era.” The Guardian newspaper also ran an article entitled “How To Invent Shoegaze Without Really Trying,” though again, I don’t see shoegazing as part of their live shows, or in their production.Kane are nearly forgotten today, not even a smudge on the musical map for anyone under thirty, and even for those who do remember them, they are seldom remembered with smiles of aspiration, merely folks who purchased the vinyl, and are now scratching their heads wondering why, as they accept the single dollar for those albums that's being offered by the man behind the counter at the used music store.*** The Fun Facts: And as to the ‘Kane’ part of the band’s name, Art Kane was their arranger, engineer, instrumentationalist, producer, and arranger of strings.Review by Jenell Kesler

This seems to be quite a lot of derp just to say you don't fancy the band. Whether AR Kane are remembered today or not is irrelevant because scores of bands fall into the same category. Why do you doubt they coined the phrase "DreamPop"? Surely you hear a connection between The Jesus And Mary Chain's "Upside Down" and "When You're Sad"? Perhaps not...

At long last! There's really nothing better than cranking up the entire 'Lollita' EP really super loud.
