The Blue Dress has the sound of experienced members, who have finally found a niche for where they belong as a band, and seeing the importance of every sound and every contribution. A great list of songs for the fall season entering winter, with poetic lyrics and steady guitar rhythms blended beautifully over accompanying instruments. The sound of The Blue Dress is definitely an expressive one that Already Dead Tapes and Records is happy to release at such a perfect season. Ray Jackson, Already Dead Tapes, 2011. Tenured punk Dan Sartain ditches the guitars in favor of midnight-blue synths and robotic rhythms on this album of minimalist synthpop. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 18, 2016.
These Happy Golden Years. By Laura Ingalls Wilder. Illustrated by Garth Williams. Chapter 1. Laura Leaves Home. Chapter 33. Little Gray Home in the West. Sunday afternoon was clear, and the snow-covered prairie sparkled in the sunshine. A little wind blew gently from the south, but it was so cold that the sled runners squeaked as they slid on the hard-packed snow. The horses’ hoofs made a dull sound, clop, clop, clop. His blue eyes smiled encouragement to her. But twelve miles was too far to drive often; she would not see him again for two months. She went quickly into the house. Coming from the bright sunshine, she could not see anything for a moment. Mr. Brewster said, This is Mrs. Brewster; and Lib, here’s the teacher. A sullen-looking woman stood by the stove, stirring something in a frying pan.
These Happy Golden Years is a sweet love story full of interesting historical facts, plus enough action to keep my grandson interested. The only flaw we found with the audio version of the book is the singing of the actor (Cherry Jones) that did the reading. These books bring a view of how our ancestors lived. These days are gone now, but this era the books talk about are the roots of what our country was founded on. Hard work, wisdom, love, and family.
These Happy Golden Years is an autobiographical children's novel written by Laura Ingalls Wilder and published in 1943, the eighth of nine books in her Little House series – although it originally ended it. It is based on her later adolescence near De Smet, South Dakota, featuring her short time as a teacher, beginning at age 15, and her courtship with Almanzo Wilder. It spans the time period from 1882 to 1885, when they marry.

When she was in her 60's, Wilder drew on her own and her husband's experiences to write books about pioneer days. 1. These Happy Golden Years is the eighth book written by Laura Ingalls Wilder. It was published in 1943 and illustrated by Garth Williams. This book is a beautiful, sweet story of how Laura Ingalls and Almanzo Wilder were engaged. Their relationship, (begun mysteriously in Little Town on the Prairie), was furthered when Almanzo began taking Laura to her new teaching job, 12 miles away from town at the Brewster schoolhouse, and basically impossible to reach.
