Les Concerts en Chine is a live album by Jean-Michel Jarre, recorded in 1981 and released in 1982 on Disques Dreyfus. It was recorded during Jarre's Concerts in China tour of Autumn 1981, which consisted of five Beijing and Shanghai concerts in China; this was the first time a Western pop artist performed in China after the Cultural Revolution.

In 1981 Jarre was invited by the Chinese government to perform five concerts in what was then a very closed country. The five indoor stadium concerts took place respectively in Beijing (two concerts) and Shanghai (three concerts), and the French musician had composed no fewer than seven new pieces especially for them which, stylistically, moved from electro over ambient to Chinese traditional music. Organising the concerts was a major project in itself, not least due to the cultural differences connected with the official concert tradition in China.

Jean-Michel Jarre - The Concerts In China. по названию по исполнителю. Jean Michel Jarre – Magnetic Fields II (Live in China 82). 9:34. Jean Michel Jarre - The Concerts in China Remastered – Fishing Junks at Sunset. JEAN-MICHEL JARRE – magnetic fields part 2 (live in China, 1981).

We've decided to title this piece '10 Album Covers Suitable For Framing' because '10 Compact Disc Inserts Suitable For Framing' does very little to stimulate the imagination and has zero visual appeal.

Jean-Michel Jarre performed a handful of concerts in Peking and Shanghai in 1981, marking the first time that a modern Western musical artist had played in communist China. Sensing the historical importance of the event (and the career milestone it represented), a double album of live music from these concerts was released the following year as Les Concerts en Chine.

This review is on the remaster work: It is difficult to say if this is better than the 1985 CD pressings from Polydor and derivatives. This remaster will become a matter of preference. There is no loudness race in here. The people who are more sensitive to medium frequencies may enjoy this version better. This version always boosts the bass which is good. However, the first reissues on CD are brighter and clearer, with less bass. You may find that you prefer some versions of a song over one to another and this can be messy: For example, I prefer "Souvenir of China" from 1985 Polydor over this Epic Remaster. However, I do prefer "Orient Express", "Arpegiator", "Night in Shangai" from this version over the 1985 Polydor's. I suggest that you stay in peace with this one since it also gives you the convenience of having everything on a single CD, because the older issues are hard to find now in Mint condition - and their booklets are totally grey scale printing, as opposed to this one which is coloured like the vinyl. I would run away from the 2014 Dave Dadwater's remaster though which definitely made The Concerts in China another victim of the loudness race in its latest remaster issue. If your ears do crave for more treble and mediums, stick with the older pressings.

I find the remaster more balanced and yes the added bass boost makes a huge difference. Its punchy but not overly saturated. Nice job in my opinion over the original pressing!

The remastered version of this classic piece of art sounds just as good as can be expected, but what better is; say goodbye to the old bulky 2CD plastic box and its black & white booklet for a slim see-through jewelcase featuring the full colour artwork from the LP sleeve and of course the most practical of all, the entire album is now present on a single disc. One that always gets to travel in my case/logic pack I might add.
