Mashmakhan afterwords released their second album, The Family, which bombed shortly after. The Family, along with Mashmakhan's debut album, were compiled into one compact disc by Collectables Records, Mashmakhan/The Family in 1995 Track listing.
For the first time on CD format, Collectables Records released both Mashmakhan albums (minus one inferior song from the Family album due to time restraints) together in one package. Looking back, Mashmakhan was ahead of their time; they did progressive rock for a commercial audience when prog was supposed to be for the underground. This CD will finally give people a chance to judge for themselves what the fuss was all about.
Mashmakhan was a Canadian rock fusion band formed in 1969 in L'Île-Perrot, Quebec. The band is best known for their hit single "As the Years Go By" (reaching in their native Canada). Members Pierre Sénécal, Brian Edwards, Jim Nuchter and Rayburn Blake first met in 1960 in Montreal, Quebec. Their drummer did not show up one night for a gig, so Jerry Mercer was brought in and ended up joining the band.
