Allied Forces is the fifth studio album by Canadian hard rock band Triumph, released in 1981. The album reached on the Billboard Pop Albums chart assisted by the singles "Magic Power" and "Fight the Good Fight," which hit and respectively, on the Mainstream Rock chart of 1981. A remastered CD was first released in 1985 on MCA, then again in 1995 on the band's TRC label, and for a third time in 2004 on the band's label TML Entertainment (formerly TRC Records).

The Hydraean took rest under the Celluna Cascades after the Astral War, yet her ruinous fury carried on the waves, never dissipating. The resulting album, 1981's Special Forces, was Cooper's most stripped-down and straightforward since his classic early-'70s work. But without the original Cooper band to back him up and help out with the songwriting, it's an intriguing yet sometimes uneven set. Cooper was heavily into the guns and ammo publication Soldier of Fortune at the time; hence the album title and lyrical subject matter. The opening track, "Who Do You Think We Are," is one of Cooper's punchiest rockers, and one of his most overlooked, while "Seven & Seven Is," "You.

Leviathan is the sound that’s come to define Mastodon – the hardcore plus the metal plus the prog – and the album saw them developing and honing in on their distinct craft at a moment in American metal where it couldn’t have been any more culturally relevant. Out of the three projects so far, Forces Spéciales has made the most powerful wall. The massive, sludgy sonic construction that is Leviathan emerges from the deep much like the titular beast, rising up from yawning underwater chasms filled with darkness. The wall remains in a low range of frequencies, avoiding any harsh, trebly attacks in favor of a thick, oily, aquatic atmosphere that immerses and envelopes. I tend to focus on material that resides in the experimental or avant-garde realm of music, but nothing is off limits.
