Unfinished Business is the second collaboration album between R&B singer R. Kelly and rapper Jay-Z and was released worldwide on October 26, 2004
The comparatively positive reaction R. Kelly earned with 2010’s Love Letter and now its samey follow-up, Write Me Back, goes to show either just how much dance-music fans (no doubt weary of full-metal-couture beats) are ready to embrace Philadelphia International pastiches, or that people genuinely believe R&B’s most comically illiterate songwriter is fully reformed after stepping. The band’s ostensibly back-to-basics sixth album could charitably be described as workmanlike. Stickles and longtime sideman Liam Betson’s guitar tones are fuzzy and chunky in all the right ways, and Stickles has his punk-rock growl down pat.
