In 1999 the "Africa EP" was released on Sonarkollektiv. A big part in this has South African singer Vido Jelashe, who performed on the tune and has been working together with Meitz ever since. 2001 saw the release of the "Get On Up, Mandelbrot" 12", featuring Soul/R’n’B-singer Esther Cowens. Meitz also started to get in demand as remixer. In 2003 Meitz released his first album "Vertikal" on INFRACom!. presenting himself at the "interface" between electronic and handmade music. Born 1974 in a small town close to Hamburg, Volker Meitz received his first piano lessons at the age of eight, switching on to Jazz piano later and soon getting into his first band, playing and writing funk and soul tunes.
