Monica Stucchi (born May 28, 1963), best known by her recording name, Valerie Dore is an Italian musician from Milan, Italy. She came to fame during the mid-1980s as part of the Italo disco movement. She was discovered at age 20 by the Italo producer Roberto Gasparini. Monica Stucchi choose the stage name "Valerie Dore" and began work on her first song, "The Night," an Italo disco track that would be released in 1984 in conjunction with the album of the same name. The song sold . million copies and charted in several European countries.

Although Valerie Dore is little known in the US, in the mid-80's she created a sensation in Europe with her Arthurian-themed album, LEGEND. All ten of the Arthurian songs from LEGEND plus a few singles from her other albums have been gathered together as THE BEST OF VALERIE DORE. The music for the Arthurian-themed songs is by Marco Tansini and it's disco all right but it's "Italo Disco" - more melodic and less aggressive than American dancemusic from the 80s.
