It was originally recorded by the Top Notes, but it became a chart hit as a single by the Isley Brothers in 1962. The song has been covered by several artists, including the Beatles on their first album Please Please Me (1963), the Tremeloes in 1962, and the Who in 1970 and 1984.

The thrilling closer to the Please Please Me album, Twist And Shout showcased The Beatles at their primal, glorious, rock 'n' roll best. Twist and Shout was written by Phil Medley and Bert Russell. It was originally recorded by the Top Notes in 1961, although a version by The Isley Brothers released the following year became more popular.

It consists of songs mostly drawn from Please Please Me, their first LP released in the United Kingdom. This album, like its parent album, contains both original Beatles songs, as well as covers (including its namesake, Twist and Shout), denoted in the track listing.

For their debut album, John recorded his vocal in one take at the end of a marathon recording session on February 11th 1963. In July 1963, ‘Twist And Shout’ became the title track of the band’s first EP to be released in the UK. According to the advert on the front of New Musical Express, it was The record you’ve been asking for. A week after Twist And Shout was released it made the EP best-seller list and a week after that topped the same chart staying there for ten weeks. This clip was videotaped in the middle of a six-night run at the Odeon Cinema in Llandudno, North Wales.

Well, work it on out (Work it on out) You know you look so good (Look so good) You know you got me goin', now (Got me goin') Just like I knew you would (Like I knew you would). Well, shake it up, baby, now (Shake it up, baby) Twist and shout (Twist and shout) C'mon c'mon, c'mon, c'mon, baby, now (Come on baby) Come on and work it on out (Work it on out)  . Twist and Shout was originally by The Top Notes in 1960; the band The Isley Brothers did a cover of it in 1962. The Beatles did a second cover of the song in 1963.

It’s his perspective, above all else. He’s a young man (albeit a very enlightened one) surrounded, in large part, by men. His musical influences are from a different time with different social sensibilities. Although Harry’s tropes are quite tame compared to current R&B or Ra. Harry Styles is the work of a man - a human being with warts and flaws - it’s a very honest work. It’s true that many of his lyrics don’t quite reach the level of greatness he may aspire to. Again, this album is where and who he is today - and that’s a beautiful thing. I also listen to Bach, Beethoven, etc - most. Taken on this single roll of film was the Jumping Shot, the shot which John Lennon and Tony Barrow chose for the cover of the Beatles EP album 'Twist and Shout’.
