Early Satch: 1923-1929. The seminal singer was first recorded as a sideman in 1923, and his final album as a leader came in 1970 (the year before his death). Spanning 1923-1929, this 65-minute, 21-track CD takes an exciting look at Armstrong's early output and underscores the fact that he would have gone down in history as a legend even if he had quit recording before the '30s. Early Satch isn't meant to tell the entire story of his pre-1930 work - Armstrong was quite prolific during the '20s, and a single CD couldn't possibly tell us the whole story.

Louis Armstrong Format: Audio C. Satch Plays Fats - Louis Armstrong Plays The Music Of Fats Waller. Chicago Breakdown (Album Version) by Louis Armstrong. Please look at the great talent on these CDs. Satch, of course, Fatha Hines, Fletch Henderson, King Oliver and others. Jazz legends all. Ah, but there is a hidden gem. I bought this box set for one song: "Blue Yodel by Jimmy Rodgers, AKA "The Mississippi Blue Yodeler". Me too. I'm also a fan of early county. I like the sophistication of jazz and the simplicity of early country. The are married here. What a wonderful surprise to find Jimmy Rodgers and Louis Armstrong together.
