Grit is the last studio album by the Scottish Celtic fusion artist Martyn Bennett. It was released on 13 October 2003 on the Real World label. The album had been recorded while he was ill, and he was unable to play his instruments. Bennett brought together samples of unaccompanied traditional Scottish folk singers, his own bagpipe and fiddle playing, with and electronic drum beats.

Studio album by Martyn Bennett. The composition for pipes, clarsach and orchestra was written in honour of the late Dr. Kenneth A Mackay of Badenoch after Bennett read Mackay's medical and personal journals written during his post as Free Church of Scotland missionary general practitioner in Moyobamba, Peru. The composition is based on the theme and first variation of the piobaireachd "Lament For Mary MacLeod" and opens with Psalm 121 and features the pipes, voices, clarsach and the classical orchestra.
Mackay's Memoirs was written to commemorate the Broughton High School Centenary, and in honour of the late Dr Kenneth A Mackay of Badenoch. It was performed at the opening ceremony of the New Scottish Parliament. Matrix, Runout: MBMMСD2005.
Martyn Bennett was a Scottish musician who was influential in the evolution of modern Celtic fusion . rtyn's piping, and is built on the ground and first two variations of Lament for Mary MacLeod. It was commissioned by the City of Edinburgh Music School (based at Broughton High School), and was designed to suit Secondary-age pupils.

Martyn Bennett (February 17, 1971 – January 30, 2005) was a Scottish musician who was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. He was extremely influential in the evolution of modern Celtic Fusion, a blending of traditional Celtic and modern music. He and his family moved to Kingussie, Speyside, Scotland when he was 10. One of his teachers introduced him to the Great Highland Bagpipe. Within two years Martyn was winning prizes in many of the junior piping competitions around Scotland.
