Noted for his deep love for the Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta at large King Robert Ebizimo used the Owigiri brand of music to show case the Ijaw culture to the world. He hailed from Angalabiri in Sagbama local government area of Bayelsa State. He along with IK Belemu, Robert helped to pioneer the Owigiri genre in the 1970s and deepen its acceptability across Izonland. Owigiri is an offshoot of HighLife, but Robert Ebizimo, more than others, has been the staying power of the genre.
