Röyksopp (Norwegian pronunciation: ) are a Norwegian electronic music duo from Tromsø, Troms, formed in 1998. The duo consists of Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland. Røyksopp is the Norwegian word for the class of mushrooms known as puffballs, but the band's name substitutes ö for the second letter (in place of ø). Berge and Brundtland were introduced to each other through a mutual friend in Tromsø, Norway.
Just as autumn must follow summer, Senior must follow Junior. Röyksopp's poppy, peppy record from 2009, Junior included guest-star vocalists, bright effects, and catchy melodies; Röyksopp's dreamy, downtempo record from 2010, Senior includes neither vocals nor much in the way of four-four beats.

Junior is the third studio album by Norwegian electronic music duo Röyksopp. It was released on 18 March 2009 by Wall of Sound. Described as a mix between the styles of Röyksopp's two previous studio albums, Melody . 2001) and The Understanding (2005), the album features guest vocals from Scandinavian female singers Robyn, Karin Dreijer, Lykke Li and Anneli Drecker.
To promote Senior, Röyksopp released a 10-minute film titled Röyksopp's Adventures in Barbieland on 6 August 2010, containing six tracks from the album "The Drug" was released as the album's lead single on 8 August 2010. The music video for the song, directed by Norwegian film duo That Go (Noel Paul and Stefan Moore), premiered on 3 September 2010. Consisting of instrumental tracks only, the album is described as more introspective and withdrawn than its predecessor, Junior. The album debuted at number 33 on the UK Albums Chart with first-week sales of 3,864 copies.
