In Chicago, the Sundowners were a three-piece country band that held court from 1959 to 1989 in a handful of Windy City beer joints; they spent most of their career at a club called the . Ranch, where they would play all night four nights a week and run through 7,000 songs in a year. While on the surface the Sundowners might sound like an ordinary bar band, Chicago Country Legends is a collection of live recordings culled from 11 years of gigs, which proves they were anything but.

His debut album "Necropolis" (1978) recorded live in August 1978 at Pinewood Studios in Vancouver, and his last CD (in collaboration with Ian HOOD) "Sort It Out" (2006) recorded in May and June 2006 at Ian Hood Studios in Vancouver, can be listened to and purchased in his bandcamp. Jon Langford and the Mekons used to jam with the traditional Western trio, although the Sundowners were almost twice the age of the punk band from Leeds, England.

Formed in Glens Falls, New York, they originally played local venues around Lake George. Various lineups included Bobby Dick, Dominick DeMieri, Eddie Placidi, Eddie Brick, Kerim Capli, Clutch Reiser, Jimmy Wilcox, and Chris Schempp.
