Their intensity surprises me given the age of the band members, and honestly, they sound more like weary travellers at the end of life's journey rather than at it's high point - youth. James Walsh's vocals, in particular, are brilliant, creating the kind of feel that Jell Buckley and Richard Ashcroft (The Verve) do with their voices  . After listening to "Love Is Here" dozens of times, I bought tickets for their show at Deep Ellum Live in Dallas, in March of 2002. My girlfriend was in Europe at the time, so I went with a good friend. I was a senior in college, and I will never forget that concert.

Their first album Love Is Here was released in 2001, followed by Silence Is Easy (2003) and On the Outside (2005). After the release of their fourth album All the Plans (2009), the band entered into extended hiatus until 2014, during which they were involved in individual projects. Good Souls: The Greatest Hits was released in September 2015, and featured two new songs. The band met whilst studying Music at the Parsons Walk Campus of Wigan and Leigh College. Bassist James Stelfox and drummer Ben Byrne had been playing together in Warrington, Cheshire for a number of years.

Walsh’s vocals are sweet and distinctive on tracks like Lullaby, with a soaring falsetto not unlike the late singer’s. The album grew, as Beam says, out of a determination and a willingness to work together. After we made, that time we spent together promoting it, and just sort of playing together for so long, formed really strong bonds-familial bonds-and we just really enjoy each other’s company.
