The knockoff betrays the original. When considering the entirety of this album, it is difficult not to consider the massive waste of talent that went into producing such a sad little middle ground between decent modern thrash and stagnant groove metal.

Shatter Messiah’s roots originate from Ohio, USA, and Orphans Of Chaos is their 4th release. The band plays American Power Metal (for what that term’s worth), meaning their songs are typically up-tempo with ties into Traditional Metal and Thrash. Shatter Messiah’s music is similar to better known contemporaries such as Iced Earth and Sacred Oath, but perhaps a little less polished and grittier than those bands. Orphans Of Chaos is a noble effort and is solid from end to end. There’s plenty to enjoy here, but the album could use a few added catchy vocal melodies to reach heavyweight status
