John Otway & Wild Willy Barrett is the 1976 debut album by English folk singer-songwriter duo John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett. Released first on their own Extracked Records, the album is a collection of recordings made between 1971 and 1976. Recording began with a series of sessions at Pete Townshend's Eel Pie Studios in which The Who guitarist contributed as an arranger, producer and performer.

Otway is still touring in various formats. In 2009, he was re-united with Wild Willy Barrett for a UK tour, the duo now perform together regularly and even recorded a new album in 2011 called 40-Odd Years of Otway and Barrett consisting of re-workings of old songs and a new, previously unrecorded song "The Snowflake Effect". Otway also tours as a solo act; as a duo with Richard Holgarth; and often with his Big Band which includes Murray Torkildsen, Seymour, Adam Batterbee and guest keyboard player Barry Upton.

Mass communication is the study of how people exchange their information through mass media to large segments of the population at the same time with an amazing speed. In other words, mass communication refers to imparting and exchanging information on a large scale to a wide range of people

The Nearly Free Tour. In September 2016, following a successful Kickstarter campaign, Otway and his band travelled to the Caribbean island of Montserrat to record his new album. ‘Montserrat’ is full of musical diversity and cleverly recycled themes and elements from his past, with plenty of fist pumping hooks, shot through rib tickling humour.

Originally self-released on their own Extracked label (after the duo was dropped by Track itself), John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett's 1976 debut album represents the purest of the pair's recordings, a selection of songs that represented every facet of their partnership, as opposed to the madcap antics that became their public persona. Featuring recordings that dated as far back as a 1971 dalliance with producer Pete Townshend, and songs that were even older, the overall mood of the album dances on a peculiar precipice somewhere between folk and country, pop and pub rock - a fusion.

Denis McQuail's Mass Communication Theory is not just a seminal text in the study of media and society - it is a benchmark for understanding and appreciating the long and winding road people and their media have taken to get us here. Mark Deuze, Indiana University and Leiden University. This is a unique work tested by time and generations of students around the world - North, South, East and West. Kaarle Nordenstreng, University of Tampere.
