Peter Frampton: Peter Principle. Ten years after he became a megastar, the veteran artist tries to come alive again. The reception of I’m in You necessitated that this album be far better. And I just didn’t feel confident that it could be, he says. Where I Should Be was released in 1979. Only one cut, I Can’t Stand It No More, was released as a single; it reached the Top Twenty. Frampton began touring again, but now, instead of playing three nights at Madison Square Garden, he played one.

Rock legend Peter Frampton is voyaging into a new genre. The guitar virtuoso has announced a new album called All Blues, composed entirely of blues covers performed by the Peter Frampton Band. I have always loved to play the blues, Frampton remarked in the album’s press release. When we formed Humble Pie, the first material we played together was just that. For the last two summers I had been playing a handful of blues numbers every night onstage with Steve Miller Band. I enjoyed this immensely and it gave me the idea of doing an All Blues album live in the studio with my band.
Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, a serious car accident in the Bahamas, the breakdown of his marriage and a slide into drug abuse, Frampton subsequent album Where I Should Be (1979) failed to maintain his previous successes. Breaking All the Rules was released in 1981 and marked a haircut for the singer-songwriter, followed the year after with The Art of Control. After a period of lying low, Frampton returned with the 1986 album Premonition and an appearance on his school friend David Bowie’s album Never Let Me Down.
