Spiritual Machines is the fourth studio album by the Canadian alternative rock band Our Lady Peace, released by Columbia Records in December 2000. Although not initially intended, the project evolved into a conceptual interpretation of futurist and inventor Raymond Kurzweil's 1999 book The Age of Spiritual Machines. Short tracks of spoken dialog from Kurzweil himself are interspersed among the actual songs on the album
Nah, Our Lady Peace began travelling down this road quite awhile ago, perhaps as early as their 2000 effort, Spiritual Machines. This, however, isn't to say that Spiritual Machines was a poor effort. While it was their least successful studio release to date, it remains a very important transition album in their career. Even way back on their debut album, Naveed, Our Lady Peace has always been a catchy, radio-friendly band. But with Spiritual Machines Raine Maida and friends take the group's pop sensibilities to a new level
Obviously striving for a deeper meaning rather than the overly passionate composition found on their last album, Our Lady Peace goes for the concept record. Spiritual Machines is a bold move, considering it's the band's fourth album into their mounting career. Still, Raine Maida is confident. Spiritual Machines is exactly what he hoped it would be - intelligence with a cause. The title of the record breathes such power of thought, for Spiritual Machines comes from Ray Kurzweil's The Age of Spiritual Machines: When Computers Exceed Human Intelligence. Maida's heavy lyrical.

Sound - 10 Spiritual Machines, the fourth album from Canadian band, Our Lady Peace, is the greatest album the band has ever produced in terms of creativity. The record has a little but of everything the band has ever produced in the past. It's also the last album that Mike Turner (ex-guitarist) worked on with the band. 01. Right Behind You (Mafia) - a great choice for the first song on the album. This track is bursting with power and puts you right in the mood for the rest of the record. 02. In Repair - can be taken as the heart of this Spiritual Machines and not just because it was the first single the album. In Repair has captured what Our Lady Peace was at that part of their career. The song is extremely different from anything else band has ever produced and is considered one of the highlights of the band's career. 03. Life - is the simplest songs on the CD.
