Frédéric Chopin composed his Scherzo No. 4 in E major, Op. 54, the fourth and the last of his scherzos in 1842. The scherzo was published in 1843. Unlike the preceding three scherzi (Op. 20, Op. 31, Op. 39), the E-major is generally calmer in temperament, though it still possesses some exceptionally passionate and dramatic moments. The trio is in C-sharp minor and is based on a Polish folk song. This is the only one of Chopin's four scherzos primarily based on a major key.

Chopin: The Two Concertos. Chopin: Four Ballades.

Auguste du Maurier is a non-existent classical pianist. However, Sergio Fiorentino has also had work released under his own name which was not his. Top Tracks.

These four scherzi are on a par with his recordings of the Ballades and the second sonata to be found on other discs. The two etudes and four mazurkas that complete this disc are, as mentioned above, absolute gems of perfection. The mazurkas in particular have an internal life which strongly reminds us in the most subtle but memorable way of their dance origins. show Chopin's Polish-ness! Once again Moravec conveys his ability to perform magically in all of Chopin's various compositional styles as heard in the four chosen dances. His approach shows why there are so few direct references to folk-lore in Chopin's dances by the way he avoids being hemmed in by the primitive rigidity of these melodies in their entirety.

Scherzi: Recorded 1977 by Ariola-Eurodisc for Mezhdunarodynaya KNIGA. Preludes recorded 20/3/1979 at Kanagwa Kenmin Hall, Japan Chopin player, and yet he strides through the four Scherzos with an abundance of technique and deftly-coloured textures that make this version a definite frint-runner. This Regis coupling derives from two separate Richter recitals of 1977 and 1979, originally published by Olympia. There is some marvellous playing in the Préludes
