W:/2016Album/ (stylized as W:/2016ALBUM/; pronounced "double-u drive twenty sixteen album") is the eighth studio album by Canadian electronic music producer Deadmau5, released on December 2, 2016 through his independent record label Mau5trap.

The album's release was supported by its four singles; "Avaritia", "Seeya", "Infra Turbo Pigcart Racer", and "Phantoms Can't Hang". After a brief hiatus, Zimmerman's eighth studio album, W:/2016Album/ was released in late 2016, with singles "Snowcone" and "Let Go". Contents. 1998–2006: Get Scraped and self-released compilations. 2006–08: Vexillology, Mau5trap, and Random Album Title. 2009–11: For Lack of a Better Name and 4 4 12. 2012–14: Album Title Goes Here and While(1<2)  . On May 27, 2016, "Snowcone", the first single from Zimmerman in nearly two years, was released as a digital download. This track was later revealed to be the first single from his next album. On November 4, 2016, Zimmerman announced his next studio album, W:/2016Album/, which was released on December 2, 2016, digitally, with a vinyl.

Still, the album isn’t without its pleasures. The opening 4ware is wistful and driving, with a pinging lead reminiscent of Eric Prydz or Gui Boratto’s progressive trance.

Electronic producer Deadmau5 retreated, Bon Iver-style, to write the bulk of his dense, thoughtful eighth album in the Canadian countryside. It’s a fitting creation legend for the anti-star, a Twitter crank who openly hates the term EDM, snarks at many of its professionals and prefers anonymity underneath a giant mouse head. There’s still plenty of the type of four-on-the-floor numbers which he made his name, but plenty of left turns and detours abound, starting with the album’s opening 4Ware, which recalls the melodic, wistful trance of the turn of the millennium.
