The second in the Freiburger Barockorchester's series of recordings of selected orchestral works of the sons of . Bach, this disc of four works by Carl Philipp Emanuel, the second oldest of his sons, provides a fascinating overview of his works. Three of the works - the Cello Concerto of 1753, the Sinfonie in E minor of 1756, and the Oboe Concerto of 1765 - come from his years working for Frederick the Great of Prussia in Berlin, and one - the Harpsichord and Hammerklavier Concerto of 1788 - comes from the last year of his life as an independent.

Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel. Opus/Catalogue NumberOp. Barthold Kuijken, in his introduction to III/4. 1 Flute Concertos I in The Packard Humanities project . Bach: The Complete Works; The Concerto in G major was originally composed for the organ, as is clear from the autograph in D-B, Mus. ms. Bach P 354. The partially autograph score in D-B, Mus. Bach P 769 offers the unusual opportunity to observe Bach’s process of arranging an existing concerto as a work for a new instrument. Bach directed his copyist Anon. 303 to draft an unfigured score of the organ concerto Wq 34, leaving one staff empty.
