II is the third studio album and second non-Christmas album (hence the title) by American R&B quartet Boyz II Men, released on August 30, 1994 on Motown Records. It contained the No. 1 singles "I'll Make Love to You" and "On Bended Knee", the latter of which replaced the former at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, making the group the third artist to replace themselves at No. 1 in the United States after Elvis Presley and The Beatles and the first to achieve the feat in 30 years.

Boyz II Men’s second official album II was released in 1994. It went on to sell 12 million copies and win the first-ever Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. The lead single I’ll Make Love To You spent 14 weeks at number one, breaking the group’s previous record.

The resulting record, Nathan Michael Shawn Wanya, was released in 2000, went gold, and produced a smaller-scale hit in "Pass You B. The group subsequently signed with Arista Records. In summer 2002, Boyz II Men kept with their sophisticated approach for the aptly titled release Full Circle. Michael McCary left the group in 2003 due to problems with scoliosis. During the 2010s, Boyz II Men continued to tour frequently and recorded with support from various independent and major labels. The group marked their 20th anniversary in 2011 with Twenty, which offered a set of new material and a collection of re-recordings. Three years later, the trio returned with Collide, a stylistically diverse set of originals written by collaborators.

They've had success with smoking R&B dance tracks, but their true talent lies in their rendering of syrupy romantic ballads that can drive just about anyone to tears. Their perfect A Cappella songs can melt your heart like butter, moving.

With their second album, II, Boyz II Men assured their place at the top of the charts, as well as history. I'll Make Love to You," the album's first single, stayed on the top of the charts for over two months, only to be unseated by "On Bended Knee," the album's second single. Not surprisingly, II is a carefully constructed crowd pleaser, accentuating all of the finest moments from their hit debut. While there are some high-energy dance tracks, the album's main strength is its slower numbers, where the group's vocals soar.
