This album shows the early Joni Mitchell who later became the influential artist I grew up with and influenced me so much. This a bookend at the start of her long career and musical journey and was missing from my collection. It provides an anchor on her musical journey. To me this album isn't about the recording quality or technical details; it's just about Joni playing to a small crowd and having fun on her way to become one of the great musicians of her generation.

The sound is mostly clear and excellent, and the level of singing and musicianship is fine, comparable to the style heard on Mitchell's official solo debut album. This catches her at a slightly earlier stage of evolution even than her first LP, so the execution is a little folkier and the phrasing perhaps a tad more tentative, though not to the songs' detriment. It has versions of a lot of tunes from her first few recordings, including classics from the first album like "Night in the City," "Michael from Mountains," and "Marcy.

Come To The Sunshine. This song is by Joni Mitchell and appears on the album Second Fret Sets 1966-1968 (1968).

Hejira is the eighth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell. The songs on the album were largely written by Mitchell on a trip by car from Maine back to Los Angeles, California, with prominent imagery including highways, small towns and snow. The photographs of Mitchell on the front and back cover were taken by Norman Seeff and appear against a backdrop of Lake Mendota, in Madison, Wisconsin, after an ice storm.
