"The disc run at 33 1/3rpm, from the centre outwards. They are pressed on shellac and use a standard 78rpm electric stylus. Originally, the items were used as background music for silent movies on 78 rpm discs but they were remastered onto 33 1/3 rpm discs to be played in cinemas after the advent of sound as entrance and exit music for the audiences. These particular disc just pre-date Columbia's issue of their sound effects series of discs and are therefore dated somewhere between 1930 and 1934."
