New Sensations is the thirteenth solo studio album by American musician Lou Reed, released in April 1984 by RCA Records. John Jansen and Reed produced the album. New Sensations peaked at No. 56 on the Billboard 200 and at No. 92 on the UK Albums Chart. This marked the first time that Reed charted within the US Top 100 since 1978's Street Hassle, and the first time that Reed had charted in the UK altogether since 1976's Coney Island Baby.

New Sensations (LP, Album, Ind). I didn't mind this album. It's nothing out of this world, but it's classic Lou. Classy, catchy and colourful! Good addition to a fan's collection. Reply Notify me 1 Helpful.

For 1984's New Sensations Lou Reed cut his legendary guitarist Robert Quine from the sessions and threw his own limited guitar range into the mix, assembling an album tighter in punch if shorter in grasp. The Blue Mask, in particular, had been epic two years before. New Sensations found its excitement in the everyday, relying on the steadying rhythm section of bassist Fernando Saunders and drummer Fred Maher
Kicked off with I Love You, Suzanne, as close as Lou Reed ever came to a straight pop song, New Sensations is the most uniquely positive album in Reed s canon. Also featuring the title track and My Friend George, New Sensations introduced Reed to a new, younger audience through MTV and major college radio airplay. However, longtime fans took heart in the fact that Lou s legendary sarcasm was still very much intact. Out of print in the .
