Heathered Pearls’ 2017 EP, Detroit, MI 1997-2001, is revisited with a collection of remixes which further interpret the material and the city that shaped the Polish-born, Brooklyn-based DJ and producer. Jakub Alexander pulls together an impressive cast to tackle the six tracks. Rising producer Sopia Saze engages The Packard Plant with rattling urgency. Esteemed NYC selectors Justin Cudmore and Shawn O’Sullivan offer contrasting takes. The former recreates it as a club powerhouse.

Loyal mimicked the hypnotic and swelling motions of ocean waves at night with melodic, loop-based ambient music, and was well received across the board. But Alexander would only move on from there, inescapably drawn to dancefloor ideas and memories of the engrossing techno mixes he pored over as a kid. The second Heathered Pearls album, Body Complex, was conceived in that Loyal's gritty, soporific textures into immaculate 4/4 figurines, glacial tone drifts, and starry synth plateaus.

Heathered Pearls is the alias of Polish-born Jakub Alexander, music curator of the IS050 Blog, and founder of Moodgadget Records. Jakub has been DJing over a decade sharing residencies early on with globally recognized DJs Matthew Dear and Ryan Elliott in Ann Arbor, MI then moved on to Brooklyn to play along side slow motion disco duo Worst Friends.

About Heathered Pearls. The empo techno project Heathered Pearls is the brainchild of Polish-born Brooklynite Jakub Alexander, who had a career deeply rooted in music before he released his own. He managed Tycho and was the music "curator" for that producer's ISO50 blog. Alexander also DJ'd under the Aarnio moniker, and was head of A&R at Ghostly International, the label that released his music. In December 2012, the Ghostly label proper put out his debut album, Loyal, under the Heathered Pearls moniker.
