Machine (CD, Album). Overall, 'Machine' is an incredibly polished release, with a great sound and some infectious tracks In a Bag', 'Machine', and the two hit singles 'Cold' and 'Black and White', are all standout moments that helped firmly establish Static-X as one of the bands that would outlast the nu metal fad, and more importantly, one of the heaviest bands from my childhood.
Static-X was founded in 1994 after the disbandment of Wayne Static's prior band, Deep Blue Dream. Static played in the band in the late 1980s with future Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan. However, when the Smashing Pumpkins began to gain popularity, Corgan made the choice to commit all of his attention to The Smashing Pumpkins, and the band eventually disbanded. Static and Ken Jay later moved to Los Angeles to start a new band with guitarist. Emerson Swinford, whom they had met through their mutual friend, Chicago singer-songwriter, PJ Olsson.

Static-X – Still of the Night.
Demonstrates that they're capable of socking some flavourful shocks to the nu-metal system. Fronted by a man called Wayne with rising hair, LA-based foursome Static-X lurk amidst a glinting sea of piercings, tattoos and designer sportswear. Like its predecessor, ‘Machine’ is a sporadically brilliant, rather than wholly definitive work. This album flags with the desperately scatological . n A Bag’ (really, nobody could be more eloquent about poo than Faith No More’s Mike Patton), and ‘Cold’, which comes over more sludgy than brooding. These are momentary glitches, however. While Static-X might not swagger with the celebrity value of some of their peers, ‘Machine’ demonstrates that they’re capable of socking some flavourful shocks to the. nu-metal system.
