Summer of blood" is an enjoyable album, preferably to be taken in one go, due to its short running time (43 minutes), but also due to its somewhat formulaic and predictable flow and direction. An essential listen to fans of all mid nineties UK techno, especially if you liked Mark Broom's debut, "Angie is a shoplifter" or James Ruskin's "Further design".

Title: Summer of Blood (2014). And there's blood and sex and internet dating. It's rough around the edges in the right ways. I have no idea how it was pulled off, but what feels like a colossal mess of ideas comes together so cohesively.

It will continue to rain blood on AFI fans this spring as the hard rockers kick off the second leg of their North American tour. The band will tour in support of their tenth album AFI (The Blood Album), which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart in January. Although listeners can get a good sense of the project from its single "Snow Cat," the band urges folks to listen to the album in full. I would be the last band to still put out records," guitarist Jade Puget, who co-produced Blood, told Loudwire. That journey, not only the actual experience of sitting down and.

Dave Hill and Mark Broom reconvene as Rue East, and for SUMMER OF BLOOD, their debut, they strike out for the lands of pure techno, and mine "Shopping" for all its drive and energy, whereas "Diskoid" introduces some bongos into the percussion. "Son of Sun," however, keeps true to its acid thump, while "Return" offers a twangy guitar loop as an alternative texture. But for something entirely new, try out the off-kilter disco of the title track or the dark bass thump of "Unwanted." Finally, "The Day Before" closes the album with a spare throb, cushioned by hiss and squelch. These are tracks to warm the blood, for sure.
greed style
tribal, hypnotic, deep , detroit rooted. A must have album.

A surprisingly competent, if not a really good small entrance into a large spectrum. While "Summer of blood" in my opinion lacks the elaborate texture and versatility displayed on their classic sophomore album, "Indoor culture", it is nonetheless a sweet package (great cover, such a cool throwback to the font used on posters for seventies horror movies, like "The little shop of horrors" and such), which might be more suitable for listening than dancing, but then again who cares? From subtle tribal influences, to bristling rhythms and groovy bass lines, through to timid melody work and echoing, haunting passages which leave one in a stone cold haze, brought to life on Return and Unwanted, arguably the best pieces of work here. The Day Before is the mid tempo closing number, with a really live touch to it, namely due to the palpable bass line. The remaining tunes are not as captivating I think. Good, yes, but not much more. They all seem to build up to a certain point and then 'drop the dots', comfortably residing in what they've amounted up to that point. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with that if this was a double pack with exquisite DJ tools, but it is not, so don't be surprised if certain pieces start to annoy you after frequent listens."Summer of blood" is an enjoyable album, preferably to be taken in one go, due to its short running time (43 minutes), but also due to its somewhat formulaic and predictable flow and direction. The first few listens you will probably be very hyped and all ears, however for real replay value I would strongly suggest you seek out their second album. An essential listen to fans of all mid nineties UK techno, especially if you liked Mark Broom's debut, "Angie is a shoplifter" or James Ruskin's "Further design". If you're looking for something to tear the roof off, you are looking at the wrong place. That said, if mono, hypnotizing, at times complex, yet almost always quite linear techno is your thing, you shouldn't ignore this release, especially because it isn't that hard to find. Do keep in mind that the duo of Dave Hill and Mark Broom only got better from here, and went on to record countless memorable techno gems. Respect!
