The self-titled (the band was known as Peter Pan at first) album Peter Pan is the first studio album by the Dutch rockband Peter Pan Speedrock. It is hard to find and has never been reprinted since its release in 1997. It is rumoured that Virgin records have destroyed a big part of the printed CDs back in 1997.

Peter Pan is an exciting story, atypical for fairytale because of the absence of a moral lesson that should be passed on to the children, as in every classical fairytale. The author isn’t giving us any clue about how the children should behave or what is expected from them. Quite the opposite, he encounters us with a character who is refusing to grow up. Peter Pan doesn’t miss growing up, he finds it as a way for children to become boring and unimaginative. With all that taken to our knowledge, the main character of the story, Peter Pan, is not an entirely a positive character.

In both the play and the novel, Peter often visits the real world of London to listen in on bedtime stories told by Mary Darling to her children. One night, Peter is spotted, and while trying to escape, he loses his shadow. On returning to claim his shadow, he wakes Mary’s daughter, Wendy Darling. The dangerous and magical flight to Neverland is followed by many adventures. The children are blown out of air by a cannon and Wendy is nearly killed. Peter and the Lost Boys build a little house for Wendy to live in while she recuperates. Soon John and Michael adopt the ways of the Lost Boys, while Wendy plays house in mothering them, all the while invoking the jealousy of Tinker Bell, Tiger Lily, and the mermaids.
