There is something magnetic, vulnerable, dangerous, and electric about Angela Perley that has been causing buzz around the artist and her band The Howlin’ Moons. Perley’s four-piece band features longtime friends Billy Zehnal and Chris Connor, on bass and lead guitar, and a stable of drummers, rotating in and out when the group is on the road. The band’s live shows ooze with swaggering baselines and guitar riffs and their songs range from dreamy reverb-laden crooners to roots rock anthems  . Skewing to the rockier side of Americana roots, the album’s rife with reverb hung meaty guitar and rhythmic crunch, against which her voice sometimes evokes hints of Stevie Nicks and Susannah Hoffs. The funky groove and bubbling pop undercurrent of White Doves gets the ball rolling, keeping the momentum going with the spacey swirl of Electric Flame (the video for which premiered on Folk Radio UK), a bluesy prowling Your Love and the riffing swagger of Green Eyes that comes with a big chorus rush that’s part 60s pop, part Zep. rock.

Angela Perley and the Howlin’ Moons is an American rock band from Columbus, Ohio, formed in 2009 with singer/guitarist Angela Perley, guitarist Chris Connor, and bass player Billy Zehnal through a blind date via their producer Fred Blitzer. They have released four EPs and two albums, and are signed to Vital Music USA. After gaining popularity through local shows, the band began playing nationally and at various music festivals.
