Yehudi Menuhin, Baron Menuhin, OM KBE (22 April 1916 – 12 March 1999) was an American-born violinist and conductor who spent most of his performing career in Britain. He is widely considered one of the greatest violinists of the 20th century. Yehudi Menuhin was born in New York City to a family of Lithuanian Jews. Through his father Moshe, a former rabbinical student and anti-Zionist, he was descended from a distinguished rabbinical dynasty.

Yehudi Menuhin/Boris Ord (directors). Bath Festival Orchestra; Menuhin Festival Orchestra; Pro Arte Orchestra. Menuhin¹s recording of the Musical Offering has the same characteristics, but this work is for even smaller forces and he, fortunately, does not try to impose a modern orchestral structure on the work. Again, the legato and vibrato of the strings gives it a slightly anachronic sound, but this sound is not without charm. Unfortunately, the sound is not very flattering for the keyboard instruments - they are very soft, and do not make it through the music when the entire orchestra is playing. When they are playing solo passages, their low volume means that listening to this disc one is confronted with a wide dynamic range: to hear the harpsichords, it must be turned up fairly loud, but, in this case, the orchestra is quite loud.

Yehudi Menuhin, Baron Menuhin (1916–1999). American (Swiss and British citizen) violinist and conductor. He is widely considered one of the greatest violinists of the 20c. Known for his interpretations of a quality often inflamed, sometimes perhaps more austere, but never divesting an intense life and an undeniable depth, he continued his concerts until a very advanced age to devote himself to the conducting during his last years. He possessed a vast repertoire, from classical t. nna Fletcher Music I Love❤️. Instruments Of The Orchestra, Classical Music, Cellos, Viola, Bass, Pipes, Instruments, Singers, Composers. Yehudi Menuhin Lasting for nearly 70 years, Lord Menuhin's contract with EMI was the longest in the history of the music industry. In November 1929, at the age of 13, he made his first recordings for the Company in London, and he made his last recording shortly before his death in 1999, when he conducted the Sinfonia Varsovia in Beethoven's Piano Concertos with François-René Duchâble as the soloist. Throughout his life Menuhin was concerned with education and humanitarian causes. He always made a point of putting these concerns into practical action, which included the founding in 1963 of the Yehudi Menuhin School at Stoke d'Abernon in Surrey, a boarding school for young talented musicians whose ex-pupils include Nigel Kennedy. In 1977 he also founded the International Menuhin Music Academy in Gstaad, Switzerland for young graduate string players.
