ARK - Burn The Sun Ark was a norwegian band consisting of a bunch of guys incredibly skilled at their respective instruments. Fronted by J�rn Landes amazing voice, backed up by Tore �stby's, John Macaluso's, Randy Coven's and Mats Olaussen's impressive work, Ark really is one of my favourite. Ark - Burn The Sun: This album surpasses all the Conception CD's in every way. Every contributor (Musician) on this album is astonishing nevermind. There's all virtuoso's by now. Ark's Burn The Sun CD blew me away initially. It's hard rock and progres.

Ark's self-titled debut album was released in 1999. After touring to support the follow-up album Burn the Sun, Ark went on hiatus and eventually broke up, with Jørn Lande joining Roland Grapow and Uli Kusch in the classic power metal band Masterplan, as well as pushing his own solo career. Reunion and disbandment. But his last post concerning the subject has put an end on the band's history, with his confirmation of the cancellation of the production and the beginning of a new band. The band officially disbanded in 2011. On May 20th, 2014, bassist Randy Coven's death was announced and keyboard player Mats Olausson's death was announced a year later.

Their second album called Burn the Sun is their best work to date and yet one of the most overlooked progressive metal albums, featuring the incredible and breathtaking voice of Jorn Lande. Burn the Sun was released in 2001 and is an effort which has many elements from albums like In Your Multitude and Parallel Minds by Conception. However, Ark and Østby abandoned the power metal elements (or they just decided to reduce these elements) that were used in most of Conception's works, gone heavier and gave more attention to the progressive details.

Burn The Sun is the second and the last album of the progressive metal band Ark before splitting up. The meaning of the name Ark defines this album being a reference to Noah's ark carrying all the species. In a similar manner the band draw inspiration from all types of music and demonstrate this on the album quite well even if not as diversely as on the self-titled debut.
