The guitars on this record are nothing short of incredible. Crushing distortion plagues most of the album, and where it doesn’t introspective leads and calming melodies sift through the open air. This effectively creates a very quiet-loud contrastive atmosphere not unlike something the Pixies would’ve enjoyed. The overall feel of the guitars switches seamlessly from powerful to comforting, and at times alleviating leads shoot through the wall of distortion to produce a very welcoming sense of dissonance.

The Montreux Album is the fifth studio album by the English rock band Smokie, released in 1978. Recorded primarily at Mountain Studios in Montreux (hence the album's title) between 6 and 24 February 1978, it was the band's last album to be made in partnership with Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman.
