Formed in the late '60s, as the Delta Blues Band or Delta, the Delta Cross Band was one of the few bands to record the obscure Dylan tune Legionnaire's Disease, which appeared on their 1981 album, Up Front. Although they released a second impressive album, Tough Times, in 1991, the group's frustration at not breaking into the international market led them to disband. Jensen surfaced a decade later when he collaborated with Danish bluesman .

With Delta Cross Band, Billy Cross released four more albums: Rave On (1979), Up Front (1981), "Astro Kid" (1982) and Tough Times (1990). The greatest hits CD "Dirty Trax" was released some time later. In 1980, Billy Cross produced Danish rock singer . Jørgensen's Tidens tern, while also playing guitar and co-writing the music on the recording. He simultaneously remained committed to Delta Cross Band, who had slowed their activities down considerably after 1983, with fewer concerts

The band was founded by a group of German metal musicians with the goal to 'musically outshine' all then-current, independent releases.
