Greatest Hits is a compilation album from Black Sabbath, released by Universal in 2009. This album features only the original line-up of Black Sabbath with most of the albums Ozzy Osbourne worked on presented. This compilation features songs from 1970's self-titled debut album to Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, as well as one song from Never Say Die!. This compilations used the same masters from the Universal 2009 album remasters.

Best Black Sabbath album to have ever been recorded! Best lineup of Black Sabbath, by far: Ozzy Osbourne - vocals Tony Iommi - guitar Geezer Butler - bass Bill Ward - drums. Black Sabbath is the beggining of a new era with songs like black sabbath (the tritone makes the song sound really doomy and scary) NIB with that amazing distorted bass solo (bassically) the wizard with a wah wah riff mixed with an amazing harmonica perfomance by ozzy, warning and evil woman are amazingly permormed covers with amazing solos and wicked world the name.

Black Sabbath is the debut studio album by the English rock band Black Sabbath. Released on 13 February 1970 in the United Kingdom and on 1 June 1970 in the United States, the album reached number eight on the UK Albums Charts and number 23 on the Billboard charts. Black Sabbath is widely considered the first heavy metal album. Additionally, the opening track of the album-Black Sabbath-is widely considered to be the first doom metal song.

Although Black Sabbath’s members have scoffed at the metal tag over the years, their lumbering, overdriven guitar, acrobatic drumming and forceful vocals, all originally intended to be rock’s equivalent to a horror movie, have been copied time and again, decade after decade. Judas Priest dressed it in denim and leather. Similarly, some bands that Rolling Stone deemed metal in the Seventies (sometimes as a pejorative) and made classic albums, like Kiss, Alice Cooper and Grand Funk Railroad, in retrospect sound more like hard rock than the genuine article and are absent here. Lastly, because we sought out only the most consistently perfect metal albums, genre signposts like Skid Row, Testament’s Practice What You Preach and even the first metal album to top Billboard, Quiet Riot’s Metal Health, didn’t make the cut because their track lists fizzle past the hits – making room for more great LPs.

Black Sabbath - Cross Purposes (1994).

Black Sabbath best-of discs continue to proliferate at alarming speed, and Castle's particular version is hopelessly outdated. The track listing is decent enough, but falls well short of a full CD's running time (it was assembled in the vinyl era) and is transferred straight from the master tapes, without any attention to mastering them for CD-quality sound. Hence, it's utterly avoidable. If you really only need to glimpse Sabbath, We Sold Our Soul for Rock'n'Roll is still the place to go.

Black Sabbath are the forefathers of heavy metal, says Rick Rubin, the producer of the band’s most recent album 13. They may well be the heaviest band of all time. And I don’t know of a more influential band other than The Beatles. This song, titled Black Sabbath after a horror movie starring Boris Karloff, was based on an Iommi riff that incorporated the tri-tone, known as ‘The Devil’s Interval’. The lyrics warned that Satan’s coming round the bend. And with this as their calling card, the band – renamed as Black Sabbath – would open up a new frontier for rock music. Much of Sabbath’s legendary reputation rests on the first six albums recorded by the original and classic line-up. It was a completely original sound, Rick Rubin says
