Rasputin & the Monks' recorded output was limited to seven songs on one side of a locally pressed 1966 LP, the other side containing unrelated music by a school chorus. Consisting entirely of covers and heavily influenced by the Rolling Stones, it's derivative and a little amateurish even for the locally pressed '60s garage genre, but enjoys fairly high esteem among serious collectors of that style. Although the original pressing is extremely rare, it was later reissued on both LP and CD. Source : Web. Format : Flac.

Rasputin is summoned to the Tsar’s palace and brought before Alexei. Rasputin startles Nicholas and Alexandra by asking Alexei about his leg, despite neither of them having told him of Alexei’s affliction. Nicholas banishes Rasputin from St. Petersburg, and Rasputin prophesies a terrible future for Russia and Stolypin’s own assassination. A month later Nicholas is informed of the onset of World War I, and Stolypin is shot and killed. Alexei suffers another severe bleeding, prompting Alexandra and Nicholas to call Rasputin. Rasputin stops seeing the Virgin Mary, causing Alexandra and his fellow monks to desert him. A group of men led by Prince Felix Yusupov decide to murder Rasputin and invite him to the Yusupov palace.

Britain also had a go and produced the horror film Rasputin - The Mad Monk. Today's generation will most likely say that the film is not at all frightening but in the 1960s it was a hit, especially since Christopher Lee starred in the title role. The film's tagline is "Ladies' Man - And Lady Killer. The film's plot: Rasputin is enjoying himself at the Tsar's court, manipulating people, drinking and eating, and spreading gossip. All the women are mad about him because he hypnotizes them,.

Apocryphal stories state that he exhibited extraordinary powers even at a young age, though there is no concrete evidence to back this up. For instance, one story recounts how Rasputin’s father had a horse stolen, and Rasputin was able to identify the culprit through divine knowledge.

Rasputin cemented his relationship with the czar and czarina when he supposedly helped alleviate their only son Alexei’s hemophilia. Rasputin’s alleged healing powers continue to be debated today. The Czar’s sister, Grand Duchess Olga, wrote that she observed Rasputin healing Alexei by kneeling at the foot of his bed and praying; the calming atmosphere that he created in the palace may have assisted with the recovery. Alexandra’s lady-in-waiting, Baroness Sophie Buxhoeveden, thought that Rasputin employed peasant folk medicine used in Siberian villages to treat internal bleeding in horses.
