Vakula is right: I've never been to Konotop, his hometown in Ukraine, and I'm guessing I'm not alone. Even the collection's proper club tunes feel abstract. The title track is at once a driving acid cut and a blissed-out bit of Balearica, and a new "album dub" of 2011's "Mama Said Go Slow" knocks Vakula's sprawling percussion section out of time with its heavy bass rumbles. New Romantics," which spreads out across most of the A-side, is the track most obviously in the Vakula mold, with hefty cymbal hits skipping over epic synth swells, piano licks and a wealth of sonic detail.

FIREC010LP, CD. Vakula. You've Never Been To Konotop (Selected Works 2009 - 2012) ‎(16xFile, FLAC, Album). Firecracker Recordings. Excellent LP, beautifully packaged as per usual by House Of Traps. I can't help thinking V may have misunderstood the meaning of 'skit' here.

Selected over a three year period from his more afro-cosmic and experimental ethnic material, You've Never Been To Konotop is an ambitious and sprawling work. Not content with merely replicating an analogue sound from the golden age of house and techno, V pushes it as far as possible, combining elements of Ukrainian folk melodies, esoteric cryptic rhythm patterns, field recordings, interludes and overgrown organic effects hidden beneath acres of cosmic murk

Side 6. 1. "You've Never Been To Konotop". First announced over 15 months ago, Firecracker finally come through with You've Never Been To Konotop (Selected Works 2009-2012) a rather finely presented collection of tracks from the self styled 'Slavic Spiritual Warrior" Vakula.

Agalas
Incredibly good LP, in fact one of the best 'deep' house LP's released in my opinion.
RUL
One of the best records I've ever bought. Quality throughout.
Уou ll never walk alone
UK sellers pls message. I will happily take it off you and settle down and have kids with it.

I just bought the CD for £13 (including p&p) from Firecracker Recordings on Bandcamp. Save yourself a kidney and buy it there - buying the physical CD unlocks streaming of the album plus MP3 or FLAC download. 'Nuff said.https://firecrackerrecordings.bandcamp.com/album/firec010lp-cd-vakula-youve-never-been-to-konotop-selected-works-2009-2012

vakula is amazing guy... I had to get this on vinyl and now I cant wait my mail :)

Excellent LP, beautifully packaged as per usual by House Of Traps. I can't help thinking V may have misunderstood the meaning of 'skit' here. It's an Americanism usually referring to a comedic sketch or parody, commonly used in brackets like this on hip-hop albums. I think 'interlude' would work better. Of course, it doesn't matter, I am being quite pedantic here, also I might be very wrong! I don't speak Ukranian, so I have no clue what is being said on 'A Blyad Matrosi (Skit)'.
Wat!?
You know an artist is great when they take something that is complicated to achieve and make it look/sound/feel effortless but so few artists can come close to this guy. These are not his best tracks (imo) but they are stunning to say the least.
Moonshaper
My faves are 'asuwant' & 'I want to dance with you all my life'But those are two separate eps. This LP is a great listen though so I don't want to discredit it at all.
Olwado
What are his best tracks in your opinion?
Brannylv
it's just so overwhelmingly well crafted production, yet lofi at the same time, it almost hurts to listen. vision. individual approach. just beautiful. hopefully he gets paid enough to go on with his mission. i've got the limited 40 edition, but i'm considering the other vinyl release of this too. that good huh? yeah.
Cobandis
limited 40 edition? not sure which release you're talking about, there isn't a 'limited to 40 copies' edition included here. Also, where exactly is the 'lo-fi' production of which you speak? I think Mr. Vityk would beg to differ!
Gna
Just stunning, both artwork and quality of deepness and vakula wierdness. 5/5
Bradeya
How many of these were produced?
Iaran
500 ithink
Reddefender
Where is this "hand stamped?"
Zavevidi
It's not hand-stamped but the art is 'silk-screened' I think. (With a big rubber 'squeegee' over a 'screen' which has the negative parts blocked out).
Najinn
YES, i also cant find it?????
