Novy Svet was one of the very first projects to be released on Albin Julius' Hau Ruck! label where it found a home for its own recordings but also for many collaborations with other groups from the label's roster (Mushroom's Patience, Dernière Volonté, Foresta Di Ferro). Until today, Novy Svet has been pushing the limits of musical categories aside to establish a unique mixture of folk, experimental and haunting neo-surrealism. Selected Ambient Works Volume II is the second studio album by Aphex Twin, the pseudonym of British electronic musician Richard D. James. It was released by Warp in March 1994. Billed as a follow-up to James' debut, Selected Ambient Works 85–92, the album differs in sound by being largely beatless ambient music. James claimed that it was inspired by lucid dreaming, and likened the music to "standing in a power station on acid.
Selected Ambient Works 85–92 received widespread acclaim and has been characterised as a landmark of electronica, ambient music, and IDM. It was followed by Selected Ambient Works Volume II (1994) .
